Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor - Physician Assistant Studies Program

We’re expanding! The Department of Physician Assistant Studies at Mississippi College is offering a new, exciting, full-time opportunity for a physician or physician assistant to join our growing faculty team.

The Program

The Physician Assistant Program at Mississippi College is a 30-month program of study leading to a Master of Science in Medicine degree. The primary mission of the Program is to help students acquire core competencies, as well as specialized knowledge and skills necessary to perform effectively as physician assistants and to prepare them to provide primary healthcare services in medically underserved areas of Mississippi and surrounding states. We enjoy a collaborative relationship with the University of Mississippi Medical School. We are home to a modern medical education facility, a state-of-the-art cadaver lab, and a medical simulation center. We also help prepare our students for service at international clinical rotation sites, if desired.

The Position

Candidates should have excellent written and verbal communication skills. A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience and teaching experience is preferred. Minimum requirements for PAs include current NCCPA certification and a Master’s or Doctorate degree in a relevant field. Minimum requirements for a physician include graduation from an accredited medical school with current licensure as an allopathic or osteopathic physician in Mississippi and certification by an ABMS- or AOA-approved specialty board. Physicians should have an interest in possibly assuming the position of Program Medical Director at some point in the future.

The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience and a competitive benefit package is offered including medical, dental, 401(k), and more. We offer an opportunity for clinical practice as well. The candidate should also possess a commitment to continued professional development and scholarly work. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record in medical education and clinical practice. Very importantly, the culture of our program strives to keep a healthy family–work balance! You’ll have an opportunity to mentor students, serve in an administrative capacity, and – best of all – teach!
