Servant Leadership Minor Courses

Below are the courses offered as part of the Servant Leadership Minor, as well as the typical course rotation for each course.

Required Courses

Foundations of Servant Leadership (Fall Semester) 

This class will cultivate a strong foundation of servant leadership while fostering a passion for local and global impact. Through engaging lectures, personal research, reading, and group projects, students in this course will develop the groundwork for a servant leadership lifestyle. This course will equip students with the knowledge and skills to begin practicing servant leadership within their chosen fields. Students will be provided opportunities throughout the semester allowing for immediate practical implementation of theories and skills learned.

Strengths for Leadership (Fall Semester)

This class will cultivate a strong foundation of servant leadership while fostering a passion for local and global impact. Through engaging lectures, this course focuses on a strengths-based approach to servant leadership. As students discover their strengths, the course will guide them through the understanding of the impact their strengths, gifts, talents, and skills have on leadership development, practices, and experiences. Students will have the opportunity to hear from established leaders in both the public and private sectors as they share their real-world leadership experience as they discover their strengths as well as how to put them into practice.

Ethical Leadership & Christian Values (Fall Semester) 

This course will study the foundations of Christian ethics particularly as it pertains to contemporary situations for leaders within small groups, organizations, and communities. This course will be application based; students will learn how to identify and remedy ethical issues in their roles as leaders as well as in their future vocations within a Christian lens.

Elective Courses

Students must complete nine (9) hours of elective credit for the Servant Leadership Minor.

Leaders and Followers (Fall Semester)

This course will help students understand the nature in which groups form and develop. Students will learn about intragroup and intergroup dynamics, psychology of leadership and followership, team development, individual strength development, and theoretical concepts of leadership.
