To successfully work remotely, you will need a reliable internet connection and the right tools. If you determine technology problems may prevent you from working remotely, check with IT for support.

Staying Connected

The university has several tools available for communication and collaboration, all of which can be used anywhere you have an internet connection.

Zoom

Use Zoom to meet using video, voice, and screen sharing with instructors and classmates. Participants can attend via phone, computer, mobile device, or video conferencing endpoint. Here are some best practices for securing your virtual classroom using Zoom.

Microsoft Teams

Teams is a team collaboration application that is fully integrated with Microsoft Office 365 and helps your teams work more quickly and efficiently. Microsoft Teams is automatically available to all MC Office 365 email and calendar users. 

Microsoft Office 365

Your MC email gives you access to Microsoft Office 365, which Mississippi College students are eligible to use for free. Visit here to access the instructions to sign-up and download Office 365.  You must be signed into google with your mc.edu account to access this document.

WebEx

Webex offers free video web conferencing for meetings of up to 100 people. Webex conferences can be joined via computer, networked connected device, or through a standard dial-in phone connection. Webex offers instructors the ability to meet synchronously with the entire class, host or assign group meetings, and hold virtual video office hours and one-on-one conferences with students.

Google Hangouts

Google Hangouts is a messaging service with video capability that is included in your MC G Suite account. Through July 1, 2020, all G Suite customers can use advanced Hangouts Meet features, like larger meetings (up to 250 participants), live streaming, and recording.
