Fall Preview Day at Mississippi College Set for November 3

Fall Preview Day at Mississippi College Set for November 3

Hundreds of high school students will join family members traveling to Mississippi College for Fall Preview Day on November 3.

Prospective MC students will make the journey to the Clinton campus from across the Southeast as well as distant states like New York, California and Illinois.

“Preview Days are very exciting for us as we get to showcase who we are to hundreds of prospective students,” says Kyle Brantley, the MC director of admissions.

There are at least 312 students signed up as of October 19, along with plenty of parents. And sign-ups continue for two more weeks. Families from states like Mississippi, Georgia, Louisiana, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee and Florida are coming, too.

During their stay, guests will get opportunities to hear from a variety of speakers. They include: President Blake Thompson and admissions staffers such as assistant director Michael Wright, Cameron Treadwell and Kaitlin McCarty.

Sessions for parents will deal with financial aid and scholarships. There will be visits to the cadaver lab at the Royce Medical Science Center along College Street, and the chance to attend classes.

Plenty of food will be served, so hungry visitors should sample from the tailgating feast in the Quad. Also on the schedule is the Choctaws football game at Robinson-Hale Stadium. The contest against Gulf South Conference rival West Alabama kicks off at 2 p.m.

Visits to Providence Hill Farm are lined up (from 1-2:30 p.m.) for students interested in joining MC’s archery, equestrian, bass fishing and clay shooting teams.

The busy Saturday begins with 8:30 a.m. check-in at the B.C. Rogers Student Center. Dr. Thompson and Jim Turcotte, vice president for enrollment services and dean of students, will welcome audiences at 9 a.m. in Anderson Hall.

Starting 11:30 a.m. at Alumni Gym, MC faculty and leaders of student organizations will meet with Preview Day guests.

At 11:45 am, fresh coffee and pops will be served in the Commons area.

Fall Preview Day shoppers are invited to purchase MC sweatshirts, hats and other items at the campus bookstore along the Brick Streets from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Preview Days are more than just informative events at Mississippi College. “It’s a lot of fun,” Brantley says.
