MC Law earns Gold Military Friendly® Schools Top 10 Grad School designation; MC receives silver status
The Mississippi College School of Law has earned the 2026-27 Military Friendly® School designation and was recognized in the top 10 as a Gold Level graduate school.
The 2026-27 Military Friendly® School designation, awarded annually, is considered a leading benchmark for colleges and universities that prioritize the success of military-connected students. The program evaluates institutions using a data-driven methodology that combines public data and proprietary survey responses to measure effectiveness in key areas such as student retention, graduation rates, job placement, and loan repayment outcomes.
Earning a Top 10 designation for 2026-27 places MC Law among an elite group of institutions whose programs rank at the highest level within their category. These schools are recognized as “guidon bearers,” setting the national standard for military and veteran-focused education programs and continuously improving services for those who have served.
MC Law Dean Emeritus Jim Rosenblatt, who has been instrumental in the process, said, “This 2026-27 Military Friendly® School designation is most appropriate for MC Law, which welcomes veterans to its classrooms, sends its graduates on to military service, supports the military through its Veterans' Clinic, and hosts speakers and programs with a military theme. The military occupies a prominent and integral place at MC Law and receives the endorsement of the faculty, staff, and students. MC Law is military-friendly.”
The 2026-27 Military Friendly® School program has also acknowledged Mississippi College’s ongoing support for its students who have served or are serving in the armed forces by awarding MC the 2026-27 Silver Level Military Friendly® School designation.
2026-27 Military Friendly® Schools are recognized for creating environments where military-connected students can thrive academically and professionally. Across the country, these institutions are known for offering dedicated veteran support services, assistance with GI Bill® benefits and financial aid, career placement and transition resources, and flexible academic pathways tailored to non-traditional students.
MC Law Dean John Anderson highlighted the significance of MC Law’s recognition: "As a former United States Marine, MC Law's Top 10 2026-27 Military Friendly® School designation has special meaning for me. I know the sacrifices our service men and women make for our country, and I am so pleased MC Law is being recognized for showing our appreciation for our military through clinics, services and programming."
The 2026-27 Military Friendly® School program encourages institutions to innovate and expand their support for the military community. By earning a place in the Top 10 among graduate schools, MC Law demonstrates leadership in this mission and a continued commitment to those who have served.
As MC Law celebrates this achievement, it also reaffirms its promise to provide exceptional legal education and comprehensive support to military-connected students, helping them advance their careers and continue their service in new and meaningful ways.
Teresa Hill, director of military and veteran student services at MC, said 2026-27 Military Friendly® Schools demonstrate success in helping veterans transition from the military to school and, ultimately, satisfying careers in the civilian world.
“MC’s military population exemplifies courage, leadership, tenacity, endurance and resilience,” Hill said. “Being rated a 2026-27 Military Friendly® School indicates that, through measurable standards, Mississippi College offers its military population an exceptional academic environment that aligns with its values.”
MC students with active or reservist military status are eligible, with limited program exceptions, for a reduced military rate of $250/hour for undergraduate or $375/hour for graduate pursuits and other potential educational benefits. MC is a participating Yellow Ribbon school that extends an additional $10,000 annual applicable tuition funding for Post 9-11 GI Bill beneficiaries.
Undergraduate and graduate students at MC who are seeking an emphasis in leadership and have two years remaining towards their degree can obtain an Air Force or Army second lieutenant officer commission through enrollment in the crosstown ROTC program agreement between MC and Jackson State University.
MC also offers the My Career Advancement Account (MyCAA) Scholarship, a workforce development program providing up to $4,000 in tuition assistance for eligible military spouses to earn approved certificates, licenses or associate degrees.
To coincide with the University’s bicentennial, Hill said MC plans to open a Military and Veterans Center on the Clinton campus in fall 2026. “We optimistically look forward to offering even more as we continue placing emphasis on our military-friendly efforts and in turn, improving ways for military, veterans and their families to be a tangible, living fabric of life on MC’s campus.”
“Having a space on campus exclusively for our military population will allow them to connect with like-minded service members, spouses and dependents,” she said. “We envision this center becoming the pulse of activities, community awareness events and a hub of information and resources specifically for this worthy and exemplary student population.”
