One More Child keynote, meal packing event highlight MC School of Business’ Service and Ethics Week
The Mississippi College School of Business will host a series of events for students and friends of the school highlighting the responsibilities, opportunities and challenges facing Christian business leaders on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 25 and 26.
Themed “Unashamed,” the school’s Faith and Business: Service and Ethics Week activities will be headlined by a luncheon at noon on Thursday with keynote speakers Dr. Jerry Haag, chief executive officer of One More Child Foundation, and his wife, Christi Haag, spokesperson for One More Child.
Endowed by L.D. Jordan, a 1951 graduate of the MC School of Business, the event is an initiative of the school’s Center for Faith, Service and Ethics, which promotes and enhances faith-driven and ethical awareness of both MC students and the business community through a variety of programs.
Marcelo Eduardo, dean of MC Business and the Anderson Professor of Finance, said the 15th annual event will continue to support and enhance MC business students’ development as future business leaders in our society.
“We believe that it is an essential part of our mission to produce business graduates that will be known, not only for their technical skills, but also for their tremendous integrity and powerful sense of service to others,” Eduardo said. “This week reinforces this purpose and helps us fulfill our mission.”
Billy Morehead, MC professor of accountancy and director of the Center, said Service and Ethics Week helps to equip students with a business education in a Christian environment.
“We are preparing them for their vocations and professional lives while encouraging them to be unashamed of the Gospel of Christ,” Morehead said.
Leading up to Thursday’s luncheon, MC Business will host several Service and Ethics Week activities, including classroom presentations by Christian business leaders, many of whom are MC Business grads; a One More Child backpack packing event; and a panel discussion of faith and business ethics.
