PTK lists Mississippi College among most transfer-friendly universities in the nation

The Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society has named Mississippi College to its 2025 Transfer Honor Roll in recognition of the Christian University’s efforts to develop and support dynamic, innovative pathways for community college transfer students.
PTK named just 251 colleges and universities in the United States to its prestigious honor roll.
“I am honored that MC was recognized on the 2025 Transfer Honor Roll by Phi Theta Kappa as one of the most transfer-friendly institutions in the nation,” MC President Blake Thompson said. “At MC, we offer a community and place in which our transfer students can thrive.”
Angie Harden, MC director of admissions and enrollment operations, said transfer students are a vital part of the University.
“They are an integral part of our undergraduate population, bringing experiences and perspectives that enrich our campus,” said Harden. “Phi Theta Kappa transfer students make up a significant portion of this group, and they demonstrate academic excellence while offering leadership across many areas of campus life.
“When students transfer to MC, they are making the decision to continue their education at a university known for both academic excellence and commitment to the cause of Christ. Our dedicated faculty and staff exemplify this in how they work to support transfer students and ensure that each student receives the full Choctaw experience and leaves with a degree that will serve them well for years to come.”
Thompson and Harden are cosponsors of the PTK alumni chapter at Mississippi College; Thompson was a member of PTK while a student at Northeast Mississippi Community College.
The Transfer Honor Roll was determined by 40 key metrics related to the support and success of transfer students, including college cost and financial aid, campus life for transfer students, admission practices, and bachelor’s degree completion. The list was based on analysis from the National Student Clearinghouse and data submitted through the four-year institution’s profile on PTK Connect.
“I’m proud of the transfer outcomes we’re seeing at these Honor Roll colleges,” said Dr. Lynn Tincher-Ladner, president and CEO of Phi Theta Kappa. “These colleges are doing more than just opening doors: they’re walking students through them. Their commitment to creating clear, supportive pathways demonstrates what’s possible when student success is truly the priority.”
Phi Theta Kappa is the first honor society recognizing the academic achievement of students at associate degree-granting colleges, helping them grow as scholars and leaders. The society consists of more than 4.4 million members and nearly 1,250 chapters in 11 countries, with approximately 220,000 active members in the nation’s colleges.
