Graduate Adjunct Faculty - Nursing
The Mississippi Christian University School of Nursing invites applications for a graduate adjunct faculty member. Adjunct faculty play a vital role in preparing skilled, compassionate nurses by facilitating student learning in clinical settings and supporting their development of professional nursing competencies.
Qualifications:
- Doctoral degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
- Demonstrated expertise in the selected nursing area
- At least two years of nursing practice experience in the area of instruction
- Ability to effectively teach and mentor students in an online learning environment
- Strong teaching, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Current unencumbered RN license in the State of Mississippi (or in the state of residency for on-line instructors)
- Current (within 2 years) clear federal criminal background check
- Candidates must be professing Christians who fully support the mission and vision of the University
- Clinical sites may have additional requirements on a course-by-course basis
Job Functions:
Teaching
- Design and deliver instruction through the development of instructional plans that facilitate the attainment of the mission, goals, and outcomes of the School and the course
- Guide the progress of students toward achievement of goals and outcomes
- Assign grades and maintain records per FERPA guidelines
- Submit grades by published deadlines
- Demonstrate an interest in the personal and professional growth of students, developing and maintaining appropriate student/teacher relationships
- Be available by appointment in person, on-line, or by phone for student meetings as needed
- Provide timely and thorough feedback (usually within 72 hours of assignment submission)
- Provide formative and summative assessment
Scholarship
- Maintain at least five hours of continuing education related to teaching area each year as required by the Mississippi Institutes of Higher Learning
- Maintain professional licensure (and certification if required)
Service
- May attend School of Nursing meetings and events
- Serve as a professional role model consistent with the mission and values of Mississippi Christian University
Physical Requirements
The work performed by this position is of general office and classroom nature. While performing the job, the employee is regularly required to perform the following:
1. Communicate effectively virtually or in -person
2. Spend extended amounts of time sitting
3. Lift books, laptops, and other light materials less than 25 pounds
4. Read words and numbers; requires depth perception
5. Extensive use of computer keyboard
