I.  Introduction

The Graduate Counseling Program at Mississippi College continues to demonstrate positive outcomes for students and graduates.  The program has a full-time administrative assistant, a practicum/internship coordinator, a coordinator for each of the tracks, and several graduate assistants. There are 9 full-time faculty and numerous long term adjunct faculty providing instruction across the various tracks.

The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP), a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), has granted accreditation to the following programs in the Department of Counseling at Mississippi College: Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.S.), School Counseling (M. Ed.), and Marriage and Family Counseling (M. S.).  CACREP accreditation has been extended for all three programs until October 31. 2024.

The curriculum has been updated to accommodate both the 2014 ACA Code of Ethics and the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, 5th Edition. Data collection and evaluation of student learning outcomes in the Marriage and Family Counseling, School Counseling, and Mental Health Counseling have been completed for the 2018 – 2019 academic year and data collection continues currently. All syllabi have been updated to the 2009 CACREP Standards.
