Gifts-in-Kind

Gifts-in-kind include all gifts other than cash or negotiable instrument

A gift-in-kind is a gift other than cash or negotiable instrument such as equipment, commodities, artifacts, supplies, and real estate.

In-kind gifts are accepted only after the usefulness of the gift to Mississippi College has been determined. If the gift cannot be used in the best interest of the University, the donor will be notified. Once the in-kind gift is deemed acceptable, the gift documentation will be returned to the Advancement Office for gift receipting.  IRS regulations do not allow the university to state a value for the gift on the gift receipt.  The donor is responsible for stating the value of the deduction.

The IRS has special requirements for gifts-in-kind. If you are considering such a gift, please contact the Office of Advancement at 601.925.3968.
