What is a mathematics degree?

As a mathematics major, you’ll take courses in topics such as:

  • Calculus with Analytic Geometry
  • Linear Algebra 
  • Modern Algebra 
  • Plane Geometry 
  • Probability and Statistics 
  • Differential Equations

The mathematics curriculum focuses on knowledge acquisition and skills building in the various disciplines of mathematics. Some students may choose to pursue secondary education licensure, and become math teachers at the junior high and high school level. Others anticipate graduate study in mathematics, aimed toward research or teaching careers. The mathematics curriculum also forms a strong foundation for careers in technical fields.
