The Gore Arts Complex

A space designed for the creation of art and engagement of the community.

The late Dr. Samuel Gore, renowned artist and founding father of the MC Art Department, had a vision for expanding the art department. The historic Clinton junior high building on MC’s East Campus was the perfect facility to help make his vision become a reality.

Over the years, Dr. Gore drew floorplans showing how this space may be renovated for the MC studio art programs, even constructing a 3D model of the building and studios he saw so clearly in his mind's eye.

Every detail in the new space has been planned and designed for the creation of art and for the engagement of the community. The space includes specific studios for painting, sculpture, papermaking, pastels, woodworking, and stagecraft. The space also includes an outdoor, covered kiln, courtyard for firing ceramics and an auditorium suitable for large classes or as a gathering space for the MC and Clinton communities. In addition to the studio spaces and equipment, the Gore Arts Complex is suited with the most up-to-date technology to maximize instruction.

The Gore Arts Complex and its community space gives people a new and inspiring reason to visit our campus. This facility represents the latest chapter in MC's long legacy of excellence in art programs and commitment to faith. Dr. Gore transformed lives through his art and his teaching and MC will continue that legacy in this building that bears his name.
