Why MC Adheres to SACM's Online Course Restrictions
DID YOU KNOW?
After completing your degree at any institution funded by SACM, there is a degree validation process. SACM will review all online and hybrid courses you’ve taken during your degree, including those from other universities or colleges. If you exceed the SACM-approved limit for online/hybrid courses—whether you paid for them or not—your degree may not be validated or could be deemed null.
WHAT DOES THAT MEAN for you?
If you exceed SACM's online course limits:
- Your degree will not be validated by SACM.
- Your degree will not be recognized in your home country.
- It may prevent you from getting a job or entering a graduate program back home.
At Mississippi College, we take SACM’s guidelines very seriously because we are committed to your success. We have a responsibility to both you and SACM to adhere to these rules and ensure your degree is valid and recognized.
SACM Online Course Policy Review
-
Undergraduate Students: You may take up to 4 online courses (12 hours) throughout your degree program.
-
Graduate Students: You may take up to 2 online courses (6 hours) throughout your degree program.
-
One Course Per Semester: You are allowed only one online course per term, unless it is your final semester and you are graduating that term.
SACM Approval Process for OnLINE/HYBRID Courses
SACM approval is required for all online courses before you enroll. Online courses are approved only if:
-
The course is required for your degree.
-
The course is only offered online or in a hybrid format.
-
You are in your graduating term, and the course is necessary to avoid a delay in your graduation.
After Enrollment
-
Your MC advisor will need to send a letter to SACM detailing your course schedule.
-
A second letter is required to validate the reason for enrolling in an online or hybrid course instead of a traditional face-to-face class.
By following SACM’s guidelines, we ensure that your degree is properly validated and recognized. If you have any questions, please reach out to your MC Advisor for guidance.
