Internships

All Communication majors are required to complete at least one internship for course credit to gain valuable experience in their chosen field of study. Students can intern during the fall, spring, or summer semesters. Communication students have a track record of having excellent experiences with a variety of media and journalistic organizations, public relations and government agencies, plus businesses, churches, and non-profit organizations. Washington Internship Program

The Department of Communication works with friends and alumni to help qualified and motivated students secure internships in our nation's capital though the Washington Internship Program. Students must meet application requirements, may enroll in online classes to maintain full-time status, and are eligible for scholarship funds based on availability. Selected positions include a stipend from the internship site site host. Applicants are reviewed by department  faculty and select alumni invested in the program's success. Among other requirements, applicants must have completed 60 semester hours at MC, be at least 20 when the internship begins, be a declared Communication major for one full semester, have a 3.0 GPA in all coursework, and register to receive course credit for the experience.
