Donald Fisher Student Society (DFSS)

The Donald Fisher Student Society (DFSS) chapter of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) is the social organization of the Mississippi College Physician Assistant Studies Program (MCPA) in Clinton, Mississippi. All PA students accepted to the MCPA program are members of DFSS.

The purpose of DFSS is to educate members about the national and state PA organizations: AAPA and the Mississippi Academy of Physician Assistants (MAPA); provide academic guidance and mentorship for the incoming class; enhance communication between students and faculty/staff; participate with other PA student societies, medical societies, and health care providers; promote morale and camaraderie between members; and encourage philanthropic activities between members and the community.

This organization  is named after Donald W. Fisher, PhD who was hired as the first Executive Director of AAPA and APAP from 1973-1980 and opened the joint AAPA/APAP office in Washington, DC in 1974.
