Mississippi College’s Intensive English Program is committed to preparing international students for academic course work toward an undergraduate or graduate degree at Mississippi College. We aim for our graduates to have the skills necessary to thrive in their academic studies, the university culture and the wider community. As committed professionals, we endeavor to accomplish these goals in a supporting, respectful and understanding environment.
In addition to classes in Reading, Writing, Listening, Speaking, Vocabulary, Grammar and Pronunciation, the Intensive English Program at Mississippi College offers a wide range of activities and opportunities for interacting with the university community.
Each semester IEP students take various trips off campus to fully experience their local surroundings as well as major surrounding cities. For more information, please visit the field trips page.
Throughout the year, the Office of Global Education, along with the Intensive English Program, hosts various festivals to celebrate the countries and cultures of our international students: Moon Festival, Celebration of Culture, and International Festival.
Thankfully, the Intensive English Program at MC is supported strongly by the university and the local community. Mississippi College has organizations on campus, such as the Baptist Student Union, Reformed University Fellowship, and the International Student Association, who serve the international students in any needed capacity. Some of these organizations have even helped in picking up and welcoming international students at the airport!
On the first Thursday of every month, the Office of Global Education, in partnership with the Intensive English Program and local community groups, hosts Global Cafe. This event, held at Cup's, Mississippi's own coffee house, is an opportunity for international students to meet and talk with American students and members of the local community.
