What are the program differences?

Camps:

There are three 3 week camps. One for Mandarin language study, one for Engineering, and one for Business.

Summer Intensive Study:

Our most popular option is an intensive 8 week Mandarin language study. This program also boast multiple cultural trips around the country letting students experience all aspects of Taiwanese life.

Semester:

The semester and year studies are both structured to meet normal student life at CYCU. Students can take language classes as well as their normal degree classes to transfer credits back to Mississippi College.

Where do students apply?

Any Mississippi College student that wants to apply can do so with the MAC Center at this link:https://www.mc.edu/academics/abroad/apply

Who is eligible to participate?

All registered Mississippi College students are eligible! You don't need to take Chinese Classes at Mississippi College.

Are the course credits “MC credits” or do they transfer into MC?

Mississippi College is a “partner institution” with CYCU. This means that students enroll at MC and register as if they were taking courses on campus. The courses that they will actually take in Taiwan correspond to course numbers offered here. That way, students earn MC credit while learning abroad. There is no risk in losing credits through transferring hours. You must pay Mississippi College Tuition to receive Mississippi College course credit.

Does the program include excursions to other cities?

Students will have the opportunity to engage with the local culture through school field trips and during their personal time. Located just a subway ride away from the capital city of Taipei there will certainly be no shortage of unique activities, food, and sightseeing. Every month, MC students will visit various local secondary schools to teach junior or senior high school students English.

Where do students live?

Students will live on campus in university dorm rooms. Check out this video for a guided tour! Introduction to Re-Cheng Dormitory in CYCU. 熱誠宿舍導覽

CYCU also offers a very modern and beautiful campus for students to enjoy. Take a look here! Daily Life in CYCU

How much does the program cost?

This program is sponsored by the Ministry of Education for MC students! The cost to study in Taiwan is very minimal. Monthly stipend of approximately $850, which covers students’ tuition, fees, room and board, is awarded to MC students while studying at CYCU. A portion of a Grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will also help subsidize student's airfare cost.
