What is the average test score and GPA for admitted students at Mississippi College?
After graduation, applicants must have an official, final transcript sent directly to MC by the high school including the date of graduation, a signature by a school official, and an official seal. The transcript can be sent electronically through Parchment or other service, hand-delivered to the Admissions Office in a sealed envelope, or emailed as a PDF attachment to admissions@mc.edu directly from a guidance counselor or school administrator.
The average recalculated GPA range for incoming freshman admitted students from the 2025 academic year is 3.5 - 3.7 and the middle 50% scores are 24-26 on the ACT, 1160 - 1330 on the SAT, and 89-100 on the CLT.
For incoming transfer students, the average admitted GPA is 3.28 - 3.5.

How long does it take to receive an admission decision from Mississippi College?
It usually takes about 2 weeks to review a completed application once the application fee is submitted and the necessary admissions documents have been received. Students will be notified of their acceptance via a special delivery to their mailbox and an official email. Acceptance decisions begin in early September and are rolling from there.
Can I continue submitting official test scores to Mississippi College throughout high school?
Yes! There is no limit to the number of college entrance exams you can submit to MC. You can even take multiple types of the college entrance exams and send all your scores to MC (for example, students can take the ACT and the SAT and send both scores to MC). We will always use your best score for admission and scholarship decisions. Even after you’re admitted, if your score goes up, we will use it to adjust your scholarship consideration. You can send updated test scores up until classes begin.
Does Mississippi College accept superscores?
Yes; MC will use your ACT, SAT, OR CLT superscore for admission and scholarship consideration. The writing section is not required. The science section OF THE ACT is optional, except for Nursing majors.
Are there admission or scholarship deadlines at Mississippi College?
There are no admissions deadlines. There are no scholarship deadlines for general academic and merit scholarships. Some competitive scholarships do have deadlines. Ask your admissions counselor for more information.
Do freshmen live on campus at MC?
Yes! The residential experience is core to who MC is and one of the reasons why students are able to build such great campus community! Unless your parents/guardians live in the metro-Jackson area and you plan to live at home and commute to campus for classes, freshmen live on campus in one of our freshman residence halls of their choice and are scholarshipped accordingly.
What is the admissions process for students with a GED?
Applicants can be considered for admission with passing scores on the General Education Development (GED) test and with an official ACT, SAT, or CLT score that meets admission requirements. Test scores are not required if you completed your GED more than 5 years ago.
Will I still be considered a freshman at Mississippi College if I have dual enrollment credit?
Yes! MC will evaluate and accept DE credit and still consider a student coming to MC after high school graduation to be a freshman for residential and scholarship purposes.
How does Mississippi College accept CLEP, AP, or IB credits?
Send all AP, CLEP and IB tests and credits officially to MC to be reviewed for college credit. If your scores match our requirements for earning credit, you will be awarded credit.
When will I receive a scholarship offer from Mississippi College?
Initial scholarship offers will go out in late fall. Students do not need to submit a separate application to be considered for scholarships. Initial scholarship offers are based on the academic information on the student’s application file at the time of the scholarship review. Students can continue to raise their test scores or GPA throughout the year leading up to enrollment and receive a re-evaluated scholarship offer. Initial scholarship offers do not include financial aid. FAFSAs are reviewed by the Financial Aid Office mid-spring, and financial aid information will be included in the offer at that point.
Can I take classes at MC if I’m not seeking a degree?
Yes. You can apply to Mississippi College as a non-degree seeking student if you want to take classes without pursuing a full degree from MC. On your application, select “No” when asked if you want to start an undergraduate program, degree, or certificate.
Can I earn a second bachelor’s degree from MC?
Yes. If you already hold a bachelor’s degree and want to pursue a second undergraduate degree, simply submit a new application for admission to Mississippi College.
What do I need to do to restart my degree at MC?
If you previously attended Mississippi College and withdrew for one semester or more, you’ll need to apply for readmission. Readmission allows you to continue your degree program where you left off
