How can you find an internship?
There are several ways for you to secure an internship. We recommend using our online job board, Students | Handshake (joinhandshake.com) , to begin your internship search. Mississippi College Career Services partners with local, regional and national employers to provide students opportunities in a variety of majors and fields.
If you have your MC ID (700#) you can register an account for yourself. Follow the steps below to access Handshake.
- Go to www.mc.edu/career
- Click on the button that says Handshake Login
- Indicate you are a student
- Follow the prompts from there. In the form, please use your MC e-mail as your primary e-mail address, as this will be what departments use to contact you.
Once you have registered your account, you can log in and apply for jobs and/or internships. You will need to upload a resume. If you do not have a resume, you can find our resume guide under “Student Resources” at the top of the page. You can also contact us at 601-925-3901 or email@example.com for assistance.
You can also use our other databases to assist in your internship search. Next to the CareerLink button on the main page of our website and Glassdoor. Each database offers listings for internships, both internationally and throughout the United States. If you want to schedule an appointment with a Career Services staff member, please feel free to call us at 601-925-3901.
How do you receive academic credit for an internship?
Through the academic internship program, students are employed temporarily and are under the direct supervision of a faculty advisor. Registration for one, two, three, or six semester hours of credit is possible. A letter grade is assigned by the faculty advisor for this work experience. The internship must be approved by the internship committee and the student must be approved by the academic department in which the credit is being granted. Internships are only open to those students who are juniors or seniors.
