Dr. Debbie C. Norris, an Associate Professor, joined the MC faculty in 1984, where she taught for 14 years in the School of Business. As a tenured faculty member she continues to teach the undergraduate core course Business Communication. In 1998, Norris became the Graduate Dean and in 2003, she was made VP for Planning & Assessment. Since then she has led the institution’s regional accreditation efforts with successful stints in 2002 and 2012 and more recently in 2018 (interim review). She advises and teaches in the online Masters in Higher Education degree program. Norris was appointed by the President in 1998 to serve as the institution’s Title IX Coordinator. The Vice President of Planning and Assessment is the chief administrator responsible for the assessment of each academic and administrative office and coordinates the strategic planning of the University.

Norris has consulted with many colleges and companies. She has served on Boards such as the the Mississippi Advisory Board for Entergy, the Board of Trustees for the Mississippi Baptist Health Systems, and the Board of Trustees for Caring Hands Ministries. Norris enjoys golf, handbells, and international travel having visited more than 15 countries overseas.
