Shane Hand is a Faculty Librarian at Leland Speed Library. Hand joined MC’s faculty in 2016 and currently teaches Information Literacy Instruction. He also teaches U.S. History. His area of expertise is early twentieth-century, U.S. cultural history and Hand is currently researching the history of racism in the Southern Public Library Movement that began in the early 1900s. Another aspect of culture that Hand researches is children's literature and its influence on Americans' imperial consciousness.

Hand attends Beth El-Shaddai Church and enjoys spending time with his wife and two puppies.
